Some words from the author:

"I took six months off life, and work, and walked from Georgia to Maine.

In 1999 the trip was 2167 official miles, though the distance changes a little every year as the trail is occasionally re-routed.

It took a year of planning and preparation to get ready, and the support of my family to help me while I was on the trail.

I dried and packaged my own food, and you might imagine that the pile of food for a full 6 months was quite the mountain!

My 13 year old son, David, joined me for 5 weeks from PA to MA and I've included his journal and perspective on the hike as well.

Additional chapters containing original mythology based on native peoples spirit animals are also included.

I hope you enjoy my story, my journal and my son's unique experience, and that this may help you prepare for your own great adventure, whatever it may be!"
